Iranian Multi-Cultural Santa Barbara Wedding

&bull Mar 6, 2014

Catherine and Pedram had the wedding of the century at Santa Barbara’s Doubletree. Pedram comes from an Iranian background and Catherine comes from an American Indian background and it was so awesome to see both families celebrate their union.  The ceremony was like a pow-wow something that I have never seen before in all my ten years plus of shooting weddings. First of all, instead of the grooms walking in one-by-one and the mom walking down with Pedram they danced their way down the aisle. The moments were priceless and really set the mood for the entire wedding day. The ceremony was very special and adorned with many symbolic treats.  I could have spent all day photographing the traditional Iranian ceremonial decor!  Another big difference in this event was that there was no bridesmaid just six very handsome groomsmen. Catherine had her brothers stand next to her instead.  I feel so very fortunate to have photographed this jaw dropping beautiful wedding.  Thank you Catherine and Pedram and your family for having me at your wedding! It was an honor to be there and document the day.

Santa Barbara Elopement

&bull Feb 9, 2014

This beautiful couple got engaged at the Santa Barbara Courthouse. Apparently it has been said that “Santa Barbara courthouse is one of the most beautiful government buildings in America.”  The SB courthouse offers a stellar place for photography because it offers so many great backdrops. Aisha and Stephan hired me for just a couple of hours. In this amount of time I was able to capture some before photos of Aisha getting her hair and make-up done by the wonderful, Luna Bella. I also took some beautiful photos of all the special traditional: Something old, new, borrowed, and blue.  The lovely couple traveled from Washington D.C. and they were lucky to have a couple of friends witness their nuptials.  The photo session was short and sweet.  Want to see more elopements? Please view my published wedding elopement. It was published on the cover of Santa Barbara News Press, wedding edt.

Happy New Year!

&bull Jan 1, 2014

This lovely couple got engaged on New Years Day at their local beach spot in OC after a day of surf and swim. They had a very intimate and beautiful fall wedding (posted below.)

Lyndsey and Johnny’s wanted  a super short and sweet engagement shoot.  We stayed at one location and then we crossed the street to use the grounds at the Biltmore to add a little diversity. Lyns fell in love with my photos of women in the ocean and she too wanted to replicate this wet and sexy look.

Fall Montecito Wedding

&bull Oct 17, 2013

There was a total of 29 people at this wedding and this number includes the bride and groom.  Lyndsey and Johnny are from Huntington Beach and they wanted too have a beautiful and intimate wedding that did not cost an arm and a leg. Lyndsey definitely has a creative side because she came up with the idea of having her wedding at a vacation rental vs. having it at a “wedding venue.”  She saved thousands of dollars because not only did she rent the property to have her wedding and reception but she also used it as her place to stay the night before and after the wedding. The Babcock Estate has a guest house that provided the bride and groom a private area to stay while their parents and siblings stayed at the main house. Everyone took part in the wedding. Johnny’s mom who is a retired florist really did an incredible job creating a natural and stunning floral design for their wedding.  Lyndsey’s mom, sister, and cousin helped out with a lot of the decor: shopping antique stores for silver plated platters. Lyndsey’s mother even went out the day before to purchase a dozen of white pumpkins to add to the Fall Wedding. It was the cherry on top for the design of her wedding decor. The catering was off the hook! Tamara’s catering did a divine job with a southern flavor palette. The secret BBQ sauce was mouth watering. My favorite budget friendly tip was how Lyns came across the wedding cake. She simply googled “best cakes” in the Santa Barbara and Montecito area and of course Jeanine’s bakery came up.  Instead of going with a traditional wedding baker she just ordered the best possible cake.  The acoustic music and DJ was perfect, performed by a friend. Johnny’s best friend married the couple.  Photography did not come last on their vendor list. Lyndsey found an incredible and affordable photographer who captured the event with style.
